I have spent most of my career directing programs for local television. The majority of those programs where local newscasts. To give you an idea, a producer will spend hours organizing and writing all of the information, graphics, and video elements that they want for their show and put all of that information into a rundown. That rundown contains the list of stories in the order that the producer wants those stories to run, as well as the accompanying visual information for those stories, for exampe: video, or an "over-the-shoulder" graphic. They will then hand that rundown to a TV director.
Here are a couple of newscasts that I directed in August of 2021.
I've had opportunities outside TV that helped me develop my videography and editing skills. I've always enjoyed the total control I had over shooting and editing from the planning stages, to the final product.

I was fortunate to win an Emmy for a newscast that I directed about tornado damage that occured in the Kansas City view area in 2019.
